VetAgro Sup and ANSES sign a partnership agreement

On 2 March 2023, VetAgro Sup and ANSES signed a framework partnership agreement at the Paris International Agricultural Show. This partnership, which is formalising the long-standing collaboration between the two organisations, aims in particular to develop holistic approaches to study animal health issues, in line with the One Health concept.

On 28 February, ANSES and the Polish National Veterinary Research Institute (PIWet) renewed their partnership for a further five years. Their cooperation, which began in 2012, has led to numerous exchanges and joint projects in animal health and food safety.

S-metolachlor: moving towards a ban on the main uses to preserve groundwater quality

ANSES undertook an expert appraisal on the risk of groundwater contamination by the herbicidal substance S-metolachlor and its metabolites. The appraisal showed that the estimated concentrations of the three metabolites metolachlor-ESA, metolachlor-OXA and metolachlor-NOA in groundwater are above the quality limit set by European legislation. To preserve the quality of water resources, ANSES is initiating a procedure to withdraw authorisation of the main uses of plant protection products containing S-metolachlor.

Sophie Lardy-Fontan appointed Director of the Laboratory for Hydrology

On 17 October, Sophie Lardy-Fontan was appointed Director of ANSES's Laboratory for Hydrology. A trained researcher, she is now responsible for coordinating all of the laboratory's scientific work aimed at improving the safety of water.

Benoît Vallet has been appointed Director General of ANSES by decree of 31 October 2022, succeeding Roger Genet, who has led the Agency since 2016. He will take office on 15 November 2022.
